HOA Case ("we", "us", "our") is a web application that helps homeowners document HOA violations and manage dispute correspondence. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information we collect

When you create an account we collect:

• Your name and email address
• Your state and HOA name (optional)
• A hashed (encrypted) version of your password — we cannot read your password

When you use the app we store the data you enter — violation details, correspondence notes, uploaded documents and photos, and AI-generated letters. This data is associated with your account and only visible to you.

2. How we use your information

• To provide the HOA Case service — storing and displaying your case data
• To send deadline reminder emails you have opted into
• To generate AI dispute letters using the Anthropic API (your case details are sent to Anthropic's servers to generate letters — see anthropic.com/privacy)
• To process payments via Stripe (see stripe.com/privacy)

3. What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information to anyone
• We do not share your case data with third parties except as described above (Anthropic for letter generation, Stripe for payments)
• We do not browse or read your personal case files except for technical maintenance or when required by law
• We do not send marketing emails without your consent

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on a secured server. All connections to HOA Case are encrypted via HTTPS. Your password is hashed using industry-standard bcrypt encryption and cannot be read by us or anyone else.

Your case data is only accessible to your account. Other users cannot see your violations, documents, or correspondence.

5. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Account Settings page — this permanently deletes all your data including violations, documents, correspondence, and generated letters.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access and export your data (use the PDF export on any violation)
• Correct your account information (Account Settings)
• Delete your account and all associated data (Account Settings → Danger Zone)
• Request a copy of your data by emailing us

7. Cookies

HOA Case uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies of any kind.

8. Children's privacy

HOA Case is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. Continued use of HOA Case after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Reporting abuse

To report abusive content, copyright violations, or illegal material, email abuse@hoacase.com. We take all reports seriously and will respond promptly. For DMCA takedown requests, include the specific content location, your contact information, and a statement that you have a good faith belief the use is unauthorized.
